NISSWA - Mary E. Jacobsen, 82, Nisswa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at her home at Lake Edward.
Mary Evelyn Mack was born in Poynette, Wis., on May 17, 1923, the youngest of eight children of Ethel (Porter) and Henry Mack. She was united in marriage to Lester Jacobsen on June 14, 1943, in Medford, Ore. After WWII, they resided in Roseville, Minn., until retiring and moving to Lake Edward in 1982, where they built a home. Mary loved flowers and gardening and belonged to the Nisswa Garden Club, the 6th District Horticulture Club and the Nisswa Women's Club. She was a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd and previously served as an elder at the Crosby-Ironton Presbyterian Church. Mary loved music and played piano and guitar. Few people here knew she sang with the WLS National Barn Dance of Chicago before her marriage. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and so proud of their accomplishments, also to her lifelong partner, Les, and they were blessed with 62-1/2 years together.
She is survived by her husband, Les; her four children, Robert (Patricia), of Arden Hills, Minn., Gary (Mary Ann), of Stillwater, Minn., Kathy (Robert) Frydenlund, of New Richmond, Wis., and Brad (Gina), of Forest Lake, Minn.; and her adored grandchildren, Chad, Marc (Joline), Erin and Patrick; and her sister, Delia Mattison, of Milwaukee.
Two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd with Pastor Harold Tongen officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
