ST. CLOUD --The Brainerd Warriors knocked off the previously unbeaten and seventh-ranked St. Cloud Apollo Eagles 52-48 in a Central Lakes Conference girls' basketball game Thursday.
Brainerd point guard Lisa Renneke scored 17 points and also contributed six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Amy Kittelson added 11 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots and Annie Zauhar chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.
"The girls really played a great defensive game and I think we were able to play them a little more physically than in past games," said Brainerd head coach Carl Hendrickson. "I also think we had a little added incentive in that we were playing the seventh-ranked team in the state."
