Ninth-ranked Alex edges Warriors

Going into its dual meet against Class 3A's ninth-ranked Alexandria Cardinals, the Brainerd Warriors wrestling team knew it would be spotting its opponent 12 points with forfeits at 189 and 215 pounds.

The 12-point deficit would eventually prove to be the difference in the meet as the Warriors lost to the Cardinals 32-24 in Central Lakes Conference action.

The Warriors received big victories from Scott Padrnos, who won his 125-pound match against fourth-ranked Charlie Kirscht 5-2, and Nick Lingwall at 135 pounds, who pinned eighth-ranked Tanner Weltzin at the 5:18 mark of the second period.

Scott Padrnos scored an upset win.

Aaron Padrnos, at 112 pounds, also won his match by fall at 5:44.
