More than 100 mentors - and just in time.
There was a wild finish to the Kinship Partners 100 Mentors 100 Days mentor drive that ended Monday.
At the end of the mentor recruitment campaign, Kinship Partners received applications for 107 new mentors. Below is a breakdown of applicants per community:
Crosby, Crosslake, Deerwood, Pequot Lakes, Pillager, 4.
Merrifield, Pierz, Pine River, 3.
Breezy Point, Fort Ripley, Motley, Outing, 2.
Lake Shore, Ironton, 1.
David Downey, executive director of Kinship Partners, said Wednesday, "There were also many people who requested applications during the final days of the campaign and have not had the opportunity to return them. We're still accepting applications even though the drive is officially over. We anticipate that 10-20 more people will submit their applications before the end of the year.
"Now the work and fun begins for the Kinship staff as we process the applications and make the matches with the kids on our waiting list. This will be a great Christmas and New Year for the kids on our waiting list.
"Thank you to everyone in the community who assisted with promoting the campaign and especially for those who have sent in their applications. A special thank you to the community is planned in January which happens to be National Mentoring Month."
