The Encore Arts Association will have their annual Christmas party 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Sandy Walker. Please bring hors d'oeuvres and a white elephant.
Crow Wing County DFL
The Crow Wing County DFL will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the large meeting room at the Brainerd Public Library. Holiday potluck. Bring something to share. Plates, cups, napkins, utensils provided. All area Democrats are invited and encouraged to attend. After the meeting Al Gore's speech for Move On will be shown for those wishing to view it.
The Brainerd Chapter No. 738 National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Scandia Town Hall, Lake Alexander, for a Christmas potluck. Bring donations for food shelf.
Crosslake Garden Club
The Crosslake Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Roy and Virginia Dolmar for a Christmas annual potluck gathering. A short meeting will follow the luncheon.

Alpha Delta Kappa
Alpha Delta Kappa met at the Sawmill Inn for their Christmas party. Gifts were brought for our special family and for the Women's Center. Minnesota State Treasurer Carolyn Held was a guest. She spoke about the state convention which will be held May 14-15 in St. Cloud. The national convention will be July 9-12 in Omaha, Neb. New members include Lorraine Hinds, reinstated, and Cheryl O'Reilly, Robyn Schaefer and Dea Eschenbacher Hondl. Erma Ferianeek read "A School Prayer."
American Legion Auxiliary luncheon
The American Legion Auxiliary luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The menu will include vegetable soup, a breaded chicken breast sandwich, bars for dessert, coffee and milk. Takeouts are welcome.
Sons of Norway
Sons of Norway will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday for potluck supper at Trinity Lutheran Church. The potluck will be followed by the annual "shy person's talent show."
Annual Christmas bird count
The Bee-Nay-She Council will call upon volunteers in Crosby, Brainerd and Aitkin to join with birders across the western hemisphere and participate in Audubon's longest-running winter-time tradition, the annual Christmas bird count on Dec. 20. Elks annual bake sale
The Elks annual bake sale will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lodge, 202 S. 4th St. A lunch of sloppy joes and chips for $2 will be served all day. Home baked pies, cakes, cookies, breads, lefse, candies and many other goodies will be available.
Nisswa American Legion
The general membership meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nisswa American Legion. No Friday dinner.
