The Studebaker long ago went the way of hoola-hoops. But in the world of F.W (John) Dixon, its' still 1960 and those fine old cars live on. Dixon, a resident of West Gull Lake, has turned his backyard into what can only be called a home for orphaned Studebakers.

The Crow Wing County Board of Commissioners decided yesterday that a tract index should be kept on all papers filed at the Register of Deeds office. Miss Mabel Gornian, Register of Deeds, was at the meeting and agreed to begin the index.

An appropriation of $3,427,500 for new construction at the Brainerd School and Hospital was recommended today by the Legislative Building Committee.
60 years ago (1940)
There is plenty of interest in the Brainerd Civic Association, which recently closed its first year as an organization, was evidenced Monday when every seat in the Iron Exchange Hall Building room was taken at a regular meeting.
80 years ago (1920)
Chow mein, chop suey from the Mandarin Cafe, Minneapolis, served at Ideal Cafe Friday and Saturday night, commencing 8 p.m.
100 years ago (1900)
H.P. Dullum has built a large brick furnace in the center of his house which heats three rooms also the chamber. What he can't invent no one else need try.
