Jesse Lincoln Good, 86, Brainerd, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
He was born to Jesse and Alice Good on Feb. 12, 1923, on a farm near Sawyer, N.D. He grew up on the plains of North Dakota. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 and served in the Army Air Force during World War II in Illinois, Texas and his last years in Hawaii, being discharged in February 1946. In 1948, he married Elsie Schmierer in the Nazarene Church in Velva, N.D., and had 61 wonderful years of marriage. Jesse and Elsie moved to Sebeka, Minn., in 1958 where he worked as a mechanic and farmed. In 1968, they moved to Zion Harbor Christian Camp near Federal Dam, Minn., where they lived for 12 years. He was director of the camp for the last three years. In 1980, they moved to the Minneapolis area where he held several positions working as a mechanic, shop foreman for a halfway house woodworking company, office furniture installation, building maintenance and quality control at a surgical clamp company. In 1997, they retired to Brainerd, where they have been members of the Heritage Assembly of God Church. Jesse was a man of many skills and known to be able to do anything he set his mind to. He was a gentle caring man and loved his family very much.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Elsie; children, James (Paula) Good, Phyllis (John) Richards, Donna (Duane) Dixon and Joyce Good; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Neiss, Christopher (Nicole) Good, Chad (Jennifer) Good, Mesha (John) Torkelson, Emily Dixon and Nicholas Richards; his great-grandchildren, Rachel, Gabriel and Samantha Neiss, Brianna, Dylan and Elijah Good, Andrew and Josiah Good, Zaila and baby Torkelson; his brother, Elton (June) Good; and his sister, Evelyn (LeRoy) Faul.
A celebration of Jesse's life will be held at the Heritage Assembly of God Church in Baxter on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. with a lunch to follow the service. Jesse will be interred at the Leaf River Cemetery, north of Wadena.
