Nelson scores 20 in Bemidji defeat

BEMIDJI -- Brainerd High School graduate Chad Nelson was the only Bemidji State player in doubles figures with 20 points in a 57-42 men's basketball loss to Moorhead State Saturday.

Nelson was 7 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and collected five rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes. BSU fell to 1-1 in conference play and 4-5 overall. The Beavers play Friday at Northern Michigan.

Armstrong defeats JV in boys' hockey

Armstrong outscored the Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' hockey team 4-2 Friday at the Brainerd Area Civic Center.

Kirk Flanagan and Andy Schindler had the Warriors' goals with assists going to Matt Burris, Joe Holden, Jon Welu and Kevin Sexton. Brainerd goalie John Weston made 35 saves.

Woods, Duvall

BELLA VISTA, Argentina (AP) -- Tiger Woods and David Duval shot a 4-under-par 68 to give the United States its second straight title at the World Cup of Golf. It was the 23rd U.S. title in 46 World Cups and the second in a row for Woods.
