STAPLES -- Paul L. Wettschreck, 55, Staples, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000.
He was born Feb. 5, 1945, in St. Paul to Walter and Pearl (Jones) Wettschreck. He attended school in the Twin Cities and later served in the Army. For many years he worked for Unisys and later for General Mills. He married Sue Rose on Dec. 8, 1991, in Ham Lake. They lived and worked in the Twin Cities until moving to their farm in Moran Township in July of 1998. He was a woodcarver and marketed his own artwork. He earned numerous awards for his carvings. He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and a life member of Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Wettschreck, Twin Cities; a stepdaughter, Dawn Katzenberger, Columbus, Wis.; two stepsons, Jason Grady, Golden Valley, and Joshua Grady, Madison, Wis.; his father; his stepmother, Helen Wettschreck, Maplewood; two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Judy Fechner, St. Paul; three brothers, Roger Wettschreck, Paris, Texas, Carl Wettschreck, St. Paul, and Gerald Wettschreck, St. Paul; and three half sisters, Gloria Nase, St. Paul, Jenny Wilson, Maplewood, and Darlene Wettschreck.
His mother and a brother, Wally, died earlier.
Services were today at Brenny Funeral Home of Staples with Pastor Terry Stumbo officiating.
