20 years ago (1980)

More than 600 volunteer community carolers will tour Brainerd neighborhoods this week, Dec. 15-19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This years' community caroling is co-sponsored by Brainerd Area Community Action and American National Bank.

30 years ago (1970)

Jerome J. Melby was elected Worshipful Master Aurora Lodge 100 last night. Other officers elected are Vic Ferguson, Senior Warden; Norman Aune, Junior Warden; Lyle Mayo, Treasurer and Walter Armstrong, Secretary.

40 years ago (1960)

Projected enrollment figures, proposed capital outlay expenditures, building and remodeling projects and proposed staff changes were outlined to Brainerd's board of education by school principals at last night's meeting.

60 years ago (1940)

A meeting of city council and school board members and officials of the Northern Pacific Railroad will be held here Saturday for the purpose o discussing an underpass under the railroad tracks at some point between 11th and 13th streets.

80 years ago (1920)

At the W.E. Lively Automotive Co. an electrically controlled door at the entrance will soon be in operation, controlled from the office and driveway. A large mirror has been placed over gasoline tank at the sidewalk so the office can see door and driveway.

100 years ago (1900)

-- H.P. Dullum has recently invested in a $21 fur coat.

-- Nelson Jarboe surprised his wife last week by presenting her with a $25 fur coat.
