TCF to host candle lighting ceremony

LITTLE FALLS - Members of the Central Minnesota Chapter of the Compassionate Friends will participate in an annual worldwide event designed to honor the memories of all children, regardless of age, who have died.

The local candle lighting will be a part of a special service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Grace Covenant Church , 17117 Riverwood Drive, Little Falls.

Those interested can bring a photo or submit one to include in a Power Point presentation. The photo can be sent as a JPEG file in an e-mail to Jdzimney@fallsnet.com or mail a copy to Jacki Zimney, 627 Park Ave. S.E., Pierz, MN 56364.

Blood donation opportunities

The American Red Cross has blood donation opportunities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Westgate Mall in Brainerd; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 23 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

Aitkin dance team wins kick competition Saturday

The Aitkin High School dance team took first place in the Class A/Class 2A varsity high kick competition Saturday at Brainerd's dance invitational.

The high kick results were Aitkin, first; Pelican Rapids, second; New London-Spicer, third; Pierz, fourth; Crosby-Ironton, fifth; Frazee, sixth; Pine River-Backus, seventh; Cloquet, eighth; and Swanville, ninth.

The Class A/Class 2A results for the junior varsity kick competition were Pequot Lakes, first; Aitkin, second; Pierz and Crosby-Ironton tied for third; and Frazee, fifth.
