STAPLES -- Michelle Honek scored 12 points and Stephanie Jares added 10 in a 65-25 Staples-Motley Cardinals victory over the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder in non-conference girls' basketball Tuesday.

PIERZ -- Mel Waytashek recorded 18 points and six steals but the Pierz Pioneers couldn't stop the tandem of Joanne Noreen (19 points) and Kari Wolford (18 points) as the Albany Huskies defeated the Pierz Pioneers in non-conference girls' basketball Tuesday.

Becky Korf added nine points and six rebounds as Pierz lost its first game.
