STERLING, Alaska -- Harvey "Harv" Paul Berry, 59, Sterling, Alaska, and formerly of Brainerd, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, of a heart attack at his home.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1944, in Brainerd to Robert and Francis Berry where he was raised and educated. He entered into the United States Army, 82nd Airborne in 1965 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. Harv continued serving in the Army Reserve until 1971. He met his wife Paulette in his early childhood years and they married each other on Feb. 8, 1969, in Brainerd. He attended the Dunwoody Electrical Institute of Minnesota as a master's journeyman electrician in 1967. As a licensed electrician, he started his own business, Harv's Electric in 1982, in Brainerd, Minn. He worked there until 1988 when he and his wife moved to Sterling, Alaska. While in Alaska, Harv had worked for the I.B.E.W. Local No. 1547 until his passing. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Brainerd, Minn. Harv enjoyed the restoration of older vehicles and in particular, Ford vehicles.
Harv was preceded in death by his mother, Fran Berry; daughters, Mandy and Megan Berry; and sister, Nancy Berry. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Paulette Berry of Sterling, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Mike Bever and their children, Cameron and Derrick Bever, all of Sterling, Alaska; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Robbie Berry and their children, Mia and Ella Berry, all of Brainerd, Minn.; son, Seth Berry of Brainerd; daughter, Leah Cain of Motley, Minn.; father and stepmother, Robert and Millie Berry of Cambridge, Minn.; sister, Jean Mershon of Brainerd, Minn.; brother, Jack Berry of Crosslake, Minn.; longtime friends: the Frost Family and Nelson Family, Soldotna.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Robert Evans officiating. Interment will be in Baxter City Cemetery with military gravesite rites by VFW Post No. 1647 of Brainerd. Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 12, 2003, from 5-8 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
