In light of a Level 3 sex offender who moved to Brainerd Dec. 1, the Brainerd Police Department met Tuesday with concerned parents and teachers at Lincoln Elementary School to discuss safety tips for children.
Brainerd Police Chief John Bolduc said the meeting, which was set up at the request of the Lincoln Elementary principal, wasn't a sex offender notification meeting but a question and answer session for concerned parents. Bolduc said about 50 people attended the meeting.
Walk-in flu clinic set
Crow Wing County Health Department has obtained more flu vaccine and will be having a its final walk-in flu clinic from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Friday at its office, 219 Laurel St. in Brainerd. No appointment is necessary. This clinic is open to anyone 4 years of age or older. Cost of the flu shot is $15.
The only insurances the Crow Wing County Health Department will bill are Medicare Part B, Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare (Blue Plus, UCare, Medica) if you bring your card. Those with managed care Medicare (HMO) must pay for the shot. For more information, call 824-1098 or (877) 724-1080.
Blood drive planned in Brainerd
An American Red Cross blood drive is planned 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 24 at First Congregational Church, 415 Juniper St. in Brainerd.
