The Minnesota Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists presented Anderson Brothers, Brainerd; Geyer Signal, St. Cloud; and Minnesota Department of Transportation District 3 office with a Work Zone Safety Award for their excellent communication with area businesses during the recent Highway 210 reconstruction project in Baxter/Brainerd.
The award was one of several presented to contractors and MnDOT construction staff in the Metro, Bemidji, Brainerd and Willmar districts for their innovation and commitment to the safety of highway workers.
All of the awards were presented at the group's annual conference Dec. 2 in St. Paul.
The award, in the static, high-traffic volume category, cited the excellent communication with businesses along the Highway 210 commercial strip in Baxter and Brainerd. Specifically, district staff set up detours that provided access to local businesses and help traffic movement on the mainline highway. MnDOT project officials and the contractor responded quickly to problems that developed and maintained good coordination with local agencies on detours, signal activation and the use of haul roads.
