Let's talk turkey
City employees have some of the best paying jobs in the area. Let them buy their own turkeys. Those who are related or friends could even share a turkey or two. As for the rest of us tax-paying citizens of Brainerd, we're jobless, struggling and our taxes have gone up. Why don't you buy us a turkey if the money in the budget has to be spent? My tax money for turkeys? I don't think so. Table the turkeys, but not on taxpayers' money.
I would like to see the Paul Bunyan (Amusement) Center, rather than moving to Nisswa, (moving to) the corner where the city now owns the land on Junction of 18 and 25 and it could join the BMX track and make a very nice area for children.
Do you want to know the most dangerous road in the city? It's College Road that runs through the Baxter Industrial Park from the junction at the stoplights on Highway 371 South to the gas station at the junction of College Road and County Road 48. Why? Because at the stoplights on 371, there are two turning lanes to make a left onto College Road. However, after making the turn ... the right-hand lane turns into a right-hand turn lane only. So the cars taking that outer lane race down ... in an attempt to butt into the proper inside lane. ... If they can't butt in, they race through the station parking lot. ... If a patrol car would sit somewhere ... and watch the shenanigans and ticket the abusers, it might save a few lives or prevent serious injuries.
