AITKIN -- Elsabeth F. Amidon, 86, Aitkin, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Minneapolis to Thomas and Ardell Findley. She attended schools in Minneapolis and then spent a year at the University of Minnesota. She married Thomson "Tom" S. Amidon Jr., on Dec. 25, 1935, in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis until 1946 when they came to the Bennettville area and owned and operated Island View Resort on Farm Island Lake until 1958. She lived in Bennettville until moving to the Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin. She was a member of the Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Survivors include a son, Tom Amidon, Deerwood; two daughters, Eleanor Amidon, Aitkin, and Betsy King, Cambridge; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, two sisters, and a brother, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westside Church in Aitkin with the Rev. Donald Norman and the Rev. Dallas Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bennettville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
