AURORA -- George A. Haveri, 89, Aurora, formerly of Aitkin, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Skilled Nursing Facility of the White Community Hospital in Aurora.
He was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Sebeka to Esko and Eira (Aatoranta) Haveri. He attended Nordland Township schools and was a farmer in the Aitkin area. He married Margaret Mattson on May 10, 1941, in Aitkin. He began working for the Cuyuna Iron Range in 1951 and later transferred to Erie Mining Co. He retired from there in 1975 as a service truck driver. He was a resident of Aurora since 1965. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union No. 4108 in Aurora.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edwin and Lester, both of Aurora; a daughter, Vickie Grahek, Embarrass; a stepdaughter, Ruby Hinton, Minneapolis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Three children, Arnold, Rosemary and Alvina, two brothers, Henry and Pete, and two sisters, Elsie and Esther, died earlier.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Ruth Gangloff officiating. Burial will be in Rabbitt Lake Cemetery in Glen Township.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
