Brainerd Service League
The Brainerd Service League will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ramada Inn. The hostesses will be Dottie Nelson, Cecil McCollough, Kay Gustafson, Lisa Lake and Eilleene Fawcett. We will wrapping gifts for the Port Home. Please bring a scissors, a roll of wrapping paper, name tags and bows. If you are unable to attend, please call a hostess.
Birthright of Brainerd
Birthright of Brainerd recently announced that the Rev. Paul Fruth was the raffle winner of the "Bunny Trail" wall hanging designed and quilted by Diane Kuck and Darla Sathre.
Dorcas Community Center
The Dorcas Community Center will be closing Dec. 18. They will reopen in March 2001. For emergencies, call 829-6440.
BAXTER -- Ray's Promenaders will have a Christmas dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Baxter Elementary School. Please bring the food ready to serve. Square dance will be from 8-10 p.m. The caller is Larry Johansen. Items for the food shelf will be collected.
BAXTER -- There will be a retired firemen, wives and widows Christmas party at 5 p.m. Thursday in the meeting room at the Country Inn and Suites in Baxter. Chicken will be furnished and everyone is to bring potluck to go with it.
Center-Mission Garden Club
MISSION -- The Center-Mission Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for a potluck lunch and Christmas party at the Mission Town Hall.
The Pinetree Patchworkers will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Public library meeting room. The program will be our Christmas party. The Tuesday morning group will meet at 9 a.m. Dec. 19 at the Presbyterian Church for basting and service projects.
Brainerd Area Zonta
Brainerd Area Zonta will meet at noon Dec. 13 at Sawmill Inn. This is a business meeting. Zonta will not meet for a program meeting in December. Contact Shirley at 829-0062.
Christian Women's Club
AITKIN -- The Aitkin Christian Women's Club will have a "Beary Merry Christmas" at 9 a.m. Thursday at the American Legion Club. The music will be Christmas carols by the Aitkin High School Bell Ringers. Special feature and speaker will be "Teddy Bears" by Karla Kolle. Free nursery reservations with Debbie Goble. Brainerd Christian Women's Club
"Let's Ring in the Holidays" lunch and program will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday at the Old Waterfall Inn. Cost: $7 each inclusive. The Lake Region Christian Schools Bell Choir will entertain. Carol Kurtzman will also be sharing her sometimes challenging experiences we face every holiday.
Girl Sports 2000 program
Troop No. 895 recently participated in the worldwide Girl Sports 2000 program. They were one of the thirteen troops from across the world to participate in a sports activity. Troop No. 895's sport was a bike hike on the Paul Bunyan Trail. Participants who received their T-shirt and patch included Kylee Austin, Alex Buscher, Stacy Buscher, Courtney Cogger, Amanda Finstad, Della Gramer, Briley Johnson, Allison Kunde, Kylee Kunde, Katie Nelson, Melissa Quintana, Tyaler Satre, Sabrina Smith, Erin Sweet, Jinna Toft, Troop Leaders Judy Toft and Laurie Everhart and Troop volunteers Vicki Buscher, Shelly Johnson and Barb Cogger. They finished the day with a cookout.
The Brainerd Chapter No. 738 National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a Christmas potluck at Scandia Valley Town Hall. Bring food items for the food shelf.
BHS Class of 1937
The Brainerd High School Class of 1937 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for lunch and fellowship at the Sawmill Inn. Spouses are invited.
The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library. The Christmas party lunch will follow the meeting.
Aitkin Riverboat Reelers
The Aitkin Riverboat Reelers will square dance mainstream from 2-4:30 p.m. Dec. 17 with plus at 1:30 p.m. at the Aitkin VFW. Roger Lueth will be the caller. Potluck will be served. Wear your Christmas attire. All square dancers are welcome.
WHS Class of 1940
The Washington High School Class of 1940 will meet at noon Thursday at Ember's for lunch. Class members are asked to note the change in day.
Toys for Kids drive
A total of $1,006 was recently presented to the Marine Reserves to be given to the Toys for Kids Drive. The participating organizations were A.F.S.C.M.E. Local 588, Staion 2800 State Patrol, Hiwayan Coffee Club and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
