I would like to thank all of the people who made this years 'City of
Lights' such a success in Nisswa. Once again you have come through with flying colors. For those of you who could not make it to this year's festivities in Nisswa you missed a truly magical evening. For those that were able to join us you know what I am speaking of. The lighting of the
Christmas lights is always a pleasure but doesn't each town do that?
What makes Nisswa's City of Lights' extra special are the amount of lights used and the other activities that go on throughout the night. Hay rides for young and old, cider offer by almost every business, the luminaries which lined the sidewalks, and my favorite, the strolling carolers. The highlight of the evening for all, the incredible fireworks display! In the cool November evening the lights are even more spectacular. And these fireworks rival any fourth of July display I have ever seen! And these were just the things I witnessed. There were many other activities going on throughout the night.
It sounds sentimental I know but it brought a tear to my eye to see the holiday cheer shine on everyone's face. We live in such a cold, hard and cynical world these days, that an evening like this lets us live, at least for awhile, the kind of life we long for.
Norman Rockwell couldn't have painted a better picture of small town holiday cheer as that which was on display Friday evening. We have the businesses in Nisswa to thank for that, but I know that there are a handful of extra special people who work on this event all fall and they deserve our heartfelt thanks. Thank you! Keep up the great work.
The Crow Wing County 4-H Ambassadors would like to express our sincere thankfulness to all individuals, businesses and organizations who helped make the second annual 4-H Haunted House a true success. Attendance this year reached over 1500 children and adults. We could not have done it without you! Thank you so much. We are looking forward to many great years ahead.

If we started in the phone book and went from beginning to end, we could never find better friends. Our children, in-laws, grandchildren, relatives and friends who gave of their time and hearts.
The organizing, cooking, selling tickets, cleaning up and all the businesses from Hastings, Vermillion, New Trier, Miesville, Pillager and Brainerd that donated the prizes; we truly thank.
The showing of love through cards and prayers will never be forgotten. We pray for all of you and especially cancer patients.
Many, many thanks. God bless you all!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and John P. and Darlene Sullivan Fund for their financial support for the MADD organization. With their help we were able to produce a calendar design by students from the Brainerd School District to educate the public on the dangers of drinking and driving. We are so thankful for the donors and directors of the Foundation and they recognize their leadership role in guiding our community into the new millennium. We could not of done this without their support.

Not long ago, I was given the chance to be greeted with surprise birthday parties. also the present of good friends and family. It was a day of unexpected feelings of overjoyment and love from everyone who had remembered me on my 39th birthday. Not, including the ability to accept what it felt like to be loved by many, many people much more to mention in one simple statement of appreciation and happiness to have been noticed by those folks who made me feel like on top of the world.
The following two days and nights, I had spent showing my personal tears rolling down from my eyes. I had never felt the contentment I had truly felt on that special day with folks, who simply believe in me. Not just on my birthday but all year around to believe in me, as someone so deserving of love from each one of them. Where, they've charged me, in many ways throughout the years and gave me chances of turning my life around and be able to love and be loved. The greatest feeling I had believed that night was, after all the celebrations and gifts of kindness also friendships so full of true understanding of me, inside and out. I was able to lay in bed as I never was so overwhelmed in my entire life, and I let 39 teardrops gently fall. I had know, I had loved myself, others, and especially the love from God. All, at once.
Thank you for believing and for the teardrops of joy.
