The best bets for walleyes and northern pike are Gull Lake, North Long, Round Lake, Pelican, Lake Edwards, Mollie Lake and Nisswa Lake. Jigging spoons have provided more consistent action. Crappies and sunfish are being caught on Crow Wing Lake, Nisswa, Round, North Long, Upper Cullen and Upper Gull. Rosie Red minnows have produced crappies and Eurolarvae has worked best for sunfish.
Anglers are venturing out on Whitefish Lake and Cross Lake and finding walleyes. Pelican Lake has produced a few walleyes as well. Rainbow or shiner minnows have been the hot baits. Look for a few crappies from the deeper water on these lakes as well.
In the east, the main lake isn't being traveled on yet, but it's very close. The bays have up to 8 inches of ice on them.
