WALKER -- The Association of Minnesota Counties will compare expenses for building and maintaining gravel versus blacktopped roads, Cass County Engineer David Enblom reported to the county board Thursday.
Income for roads is not keeping pace with cost increases, Enblom said.
He said it is hoped results of the AMC study will encourage the Legislature to improve future state aid road funding.
Enblom said Cass has been able to do the amount of road improvement work it has because the county has qualified for more federal highway funds than many counties in recent years.
The board authorized Enblom to advertise for bids for 2001 construction projects on County State Aid Highway 5 in Longville; CSAH 4, 10, 13, 21 and 22; and County Roads 153, 148, 149 and 169. A bridge on County Road 107 also will be replaced.
