Pine River-Backus girls bounce back for win

PINE RIVER -- The Pine River-Backus Tigers girls' basketball team recovered from its loss to Pequot Lakes to trample the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves 70-35 in non-conference action Thursday.

The Tigers' potent offense was led by Sarah Laposky with 28 points. The Tigers started off on fire by taking a 15-2 lead after the first quarter.

Brittany Nelson finished with 13 points. Meg Tabaka 11 and Brooke Rollins 10 for the Tigers.

Kern finished with a game-high 22 points and 19 rebounds.

HINCKLEY -- The Aitkin Gobblers girls' basketball team was handed a 73-30 defeat by the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars Thursday.

Jennifer Straughn led the Gobblers' offense, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also had four steals and four blocks.
