Gilbert L. Berg

DEERWOOD -- Gilbert Louis Berg, 73, Deerwood, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at St. Joseph's Medical Center of Brainerd.

He was born April 15, 1927, in Deerwood to Lois O. and Jeanette (Anderson) Berg. He married Bernice Elaine Austin on Jan. 13, 1951, in Crosby. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Cascade United Methodist Church, Deerwood, and the IBEW Union Local 292.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian Berg, Cambridge; two daughters, Brenda Andrews, Simi Valley, Calif., and Joan Vangeest, White Bear Lake; five grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Kidd, Denver.

His parents; two sisters, Mildred Love and Irene Osterheim; and a brother, Lester Berg, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Cascade United Methodist Church of Deerwood with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery of Crosby.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Koop Funeral Home of Crosby and an hour before services Monday at the church.
