Brainerd secures one of two CLC wins

ROGERS - The Brainerd Warriors cut their turnovers in half from their first game and played solid defensive to earn a 48-36 victory over Rogers Saturday.

Emilee Branum scored 14 points to lead the Warriors. Alex Sauer, Kayla Kraemer and Tess Rahto each added nine points.

Rahto and Gretchen Kletscher grabbed 11 rebounds each.

"We played better defensively and took better care of the basketball in the this game," said Warriors head coach Carl Hendrickson. "It was good to win in this big showcase."

The Warriors were one of two Central Lakes Conference teams to come away with a victory against the Mississippi 8 Conference opponents in the tournament.

Buffalo defeated Alexandria 67-60. Princeton defeated Little Falls 67-50. Becker topped St. Cloud Apollo 68-42. Zimmerman defeated Rocori 59-49, Big Lake snuck past Fergus Falls 63-57 and Monticelo beat Sauk Rapids 70-35.

Willmar beat St. Michael-Albertville 70-64 for the only other CLC win.

The St. Cloud Tech vs. Cambridge score was not known at press time.
