The Brainerd Warrior dance team took second place in high kick and fifth place in jazz at Saturday's invitational meet, "Dancing in Candyland," at Brainerd High School.
Finishing first in high kick was Eastview, with 540 total points, followed by Brainerd with 519 points, Chaska with 521 points, St. Cloud Tech with 498 points, Duluth East with 420 points and Champlin Park with 405 points.
In Jazz, Wayzata took first with 625 total points, following by Maple Grove with 606 points, Eastview with 547 points, Chaska with 480 points, Brainerd with 472 points, Champlin Park with 432 points and Duluth East with 433 points.
Brainerd coach Cindy Clough said Brainerd actually tied Chaska for fourth place in Jazz with 18 rank points, but lost out in the tiebreaker.

Clough said she was pleased with the overall effort of her dancers.
She noted that in high kick the team didn't perform as well as expected after one dancer pulled out with an injury.
"We were really happy placing second. Eastview, they are the defending state champions and a couple judges had us first over them, so we were pumped about that," Clough said.
In jazz, Clough said the team didn't land a few turns as well as hoped.
"I think if we were a little cleaner, we would have cinched that fourth-place spot but we're happy with where we ended up," she said.
