Man rescued after falling through ice

I'm putting aside my skepticism of government trying to solve all of our social ills to cheer a bill that would eliminate BLARINGLY LOUD television commercials.

When it comes to solving Minnesota's long-term energy needs, about the only points of agreement among many differing voices are these: There will be no magic bullet anytime soon, yet demand for energy is very likely to increase, perhaps very soon.
President Obama's big bet
Even as President Obama announced an escalation of the war in Afghanistan, he focused on plans for getting out. At the same time that he ordered an additional 30,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines to the front, he said he would start bringing them home in July 2011. And while assuring neighboring Pakistan of America's long-term commitment to South Asia, he also sought to reassure Americans that there are limits to U.S. military involvement in the region.
More troops but a limited mission
President Obama outlined a strong but carefully calibrated commitment to Afghanistan and Pakistan Tuesday night. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the commander he appointed last summer, will get most of the troops he requested to implement a counterinsurgency strategy aimed at protecting the Afghan population - and he will get them sooner than he had expected.
