Warrior girls place fifth in nordic ski opener

BEMIDJI -- The Brainerd Warriors placed fifth in Saturday's season-opening Montebello Relays.
Lindsey Mangan was fifth at 13:04, Greta Biersach 17th at 14:45 and Emily Powers 18th at 14:48 for a team total time of 42:37.
Brainerd's team of Anna Mangan, Courtney Justin and Kelli Jensen was seventh at 44:57. Mangan was 16th at 14:40, Justin 14th at 14:37 and Jensen 23rd at 15:40.
Grand Rapids won the meet with a time of 38:04 followed by Bemidji 39:47, Alexandria 40:56 and Bemidji 42:26.
In the junior varsity race Brainerd's team of Sarah Barrett, Anna Phelps and Emily Schindler was sixth at 50:34. Phelps was 13th at 16:14, Schindler 16th at 16:50 and Barrett 20th at 17:30.
