Members were named to a manufactured home park closing subcommittee by the Brainerd City Council Monday.
The subcommittee will work toward creating a manufactured home park closing ordinance.
The interest to adopt an ordinance came out of the Lakeview Mobile Home Park closing, which found some residents financially unable to move. These residents wanted the city to create an ordinance that would help them pay for relocation costs.
With the help of area churches those residents were able to move, but the city wishes to fashion an ordinance that would address relocation issues.
The ordinance subcommittee will consist of about 15 people, including Brainerd City Council members, mobile home park residents and mobile home park owners.
James Paist and Angie Goodrich of the All Parks Alliance for Change, an organization representing manufactured home park residents, will also serve on the subcommittee.
Any proposed ordinance recommended by the subcommittee would need Brainerd City Council approval.
The subcommittee is expected to schedule its first meeting in January.
