Ten years after disbanding its city police force, the city of Nisswa is thinking about bringing it back. Increased costs of a contract with the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department have sparked the idea, but no change is likely before 1991.

School was held as usual at the Roland Fischer classroom this morning, but this time without the threat of a court suit hanging over it. Charges that the Fischers were violating state law by home schooling were dropped by County Attorney Carl Erickson.

The Warriors edged the Bemidji Lumberjacks 42-40 in a breath-taking game to launch their conference schedule. Behind 36-25 to start the fourth quarter, Wayne Little started the rally with two field goals, followed by another from Jim Smith, who scored 13 points.

The Water and Light Department will provide 300 to 500 kilowatts of power to the Northwest Paper Co. Mill from midnight to 4 p.m. each day. With that assist it is believed the mill's own water power can power the machinery the balance of the day.
100 years ago (1909)
Reports received in this city yesterday say that another very rich find of ore has been made by the Rogers-Brown Co. at Crosby, on the Cuyuna Range. They have been drilling there for months and say the ore tests at 60 to 68 per cent metallic iron.
