Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale wrestlers win Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational

WADENA-DEER CREEK-- The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders wrestling team won the Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational on Saturday with 189.5 points.

Host Wadena-Deer Creek finished second with 161 points and Pequot Lakes/Pine River -Backus finished seventh with 102.5.

B-H/V wrestlers Jared Oyster at 119, Reggie Rach, 140, and Casey Finck, 189, were champions in their respective weight classes.

"Twelve of our 13 wrestlers placed and that determined who won the tournament," said Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale coach Steve Techam.

Wadena-Deer Creek wrestlers Leland Brincefield, Pete Hayes and Luke Trout, won the 112, 130, and 171-pound weight classes.

Ben Keen, wrestling at 135, and Josh Bresnahan in the heavyweight division earned wins for the PL/PR-B team.
