Rosenmeier forum on health care designed to be informational

Posted: Thursday, December 03, 2009

Organizers of Tuesday's "Basic Health Care Reform" forum, sponsored by the Gordon Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government, emphasized this week the event is informational and apolitical.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College.

Guest speaker Dr. Charles Fazio, the chief medical director at Medica, one of Minnesota's largest insurance companies, is the guest speaker. Fazio served on a 2009 reform committee organized by the Minnesota health commissioner. He will respond to questions from the audience following his presentation.

John Holbrook, a member of the Rosenmeier board, said Fazio would be regarded as a very interested neutral who has to understand both sides of the issue. Fazio has a medical degree from Georgetown University and master's degree in health care administration from the University of Wisconsin, Holbrook said.

"I think his perspective is valuable," Holbrook said.

The session is free and open to the public.
