Park to host celebration

Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department and the city of Brainerd will host the 23rd annual Holiday Celebration at Gregory Park from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Gregory Park.

Free sleigh rides will be offered along with hot apple cider, cookies, hot chocolate, face painting and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Pearl Harbor ceremony planned

The Brainerd American Legion and VFW will sponsor a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at the All Veterans Memorial near the historic Crow Wing County Courthouse on Laurel Street in Brainerd.

End child abuse radiothon begins

The 15th annual Lakes Area Radiothon to End Child Abuse fundraiser begins at noon Thursday and continues through noon Friday.

More than $800,000 has been raised in the previous 14 years. In addition, the radiothon has increased awareness of the problem of child abuse and neglect.

The radiothon is sponsored by the Child Abuse Prevention Councils of Aitkin, Cass and Morrison counties; the Crow Wing County Child Protection Team; Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota; and BL Broadcasting.

On Thursday, BL Broadcasting radio stations will broadcast live from the Westgate Mall. There will be live entertainment throughout the afternoon on Thursday.

Rural Minnesota CEP to mark 40th anniversary with open house

Rural Minnesota Concentrated Employment Program Inc. will mark its 40th anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Brainerd WorkForce Center at 204 Laurel St. The event will be hosted by the Brainerd office which is on the second floor, Suite 21.

Rural Minnesota CEP works with job seekers and businesses with agency programs such as the WorkForce Investment Act, Dislocated Worker Programs, WIA adult program, WIA youth program and Minnesota Youth Program.

LF school conferences set

LITTLE FALLS - Parent-teacher conferences for the second quarter at Little Falls Community High School will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Common Area.

A financial aid representative will be available at 7 p.m. in the English-Social Lecture Hall on the second floor to speak to seniors and their parents regarding financial aid for college.
