NISSWA - Harold Graves, 88, of Nisswa, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Veterans facility in St. Cloud.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Father George Zeck officiating. A reception will follow the services at Brenny's reception room. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery near Camp Ripley with full military honors. The relatives will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Harold Graves is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Glenna Clemmer of Emily, Susan (Brad) Langerman of Elk River, Charles Graves of St. Cloud, Daniel Hughes of Brainerd, Kathleen (Tony) Clemmer of Orr, Minn., Timothy (Cathy) Graves of Nisswa; two sisters, Donna Mullenbach of Adams, Minn., and Clela Braastad of Long Prairie; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Harold Graves was born on Aug. 5, 1919, in Austin, Minn., son of the late Charles and Mary (Gallagher) Graves. He entered the U.S. Army in 1940 where he served in Germany as a sergeant, received two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star and was captured in conflict. Following the military liberating POWs he received his honorable discharge. He was a salesman for Montgomery Ward then Benedict Distributing. He was united in marriage to Mary Gerber on Dec. 25, 1968, in Nisswa. After his retirement he was active in the POW groups. He was a member of St. Christopher Church of Nisswa, DAV and Jenkins VFW. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Arrangements are being conducted by the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
