Library speaker series continues Thursday

Dr. Roger MacDonald is the speaker at the First Thursdays Speaker Series event at 7 p.m. Thursday.

MacDonald is the author of "A Country Doctor's Casebook: Tales From the North Woods," a collection of stories about the nearly 40 years he spent as the only doctor for miles in the northern outposts of Minnesota.

"A Country Doctor's Casebook," which was a 2003 Minnesota Book Awards nominee, is a book filled with heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking, stories that reflect the challenges and variety of a country doctor's life, the Brainerd Library reported.

The First Thursdays Speaker Series takes place at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each mont.
