PILLAGER -- Richard J. Brekke, 70, rural Pillager, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001.
He was born June 26, 1931, in Minneapolis to Marshall and Dorcenia (LaRoux) Brekke. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1950. He was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned to Minneapolis. He married JoAnne Swenson on March 21, 1959, in Minneapolis. He owned and operated Eagle Welding Inc. until he sold his business and retired in 1988. They moved to the Casino area. He worked at Country Fresh Bakery for many years and also at J.C. Penney for a few years. He was a member of the Casino Assembly of God Church where he served as a board member for six years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard J. Brekke and Randy J. Brekke, both of Richfield; a daughter, Virginia M. Brekke, Pillager; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Marshall Brekke, Phoenix, and Robert Brekke, Garrison.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Casino Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mike Broberg officiating. Burial will be in the Bridgeman Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
