Douglas Farnham Sr.
Douglas M. Farnham Sr. of East Gull Lake, Minn. and Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away Nov. 26, 2009, at his home in Scottsdale, at the age of 99.

Douglas joined the Great Northern Insurance Company in 1932. He served as president of the firm from 1954 until his retirement in 1972. In 1960 he negotiated the sale of the firm to the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. After his retirement he remained on the Board of Directors until 1976.
During his retirement Doug enjoyed tennis and golf and boating on Gull Lake into his 80s.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Emily, and his daughter, Lynne Farnham Beatty.
Doug is survived by his two children, Douglas Farnham Jr. (Carole), Jane Farnham Guild (John); four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
