BAXTER - Elaine A. Gravseth passed away on Nov. 28, 2009, at her home in Baxter with family members at her side after a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Elaine was born Nov. 12, 1930, in East Grand Forks, the daughter of Edward and Anna Erickson. She attended East Grand Forks public schools and married Howard Gravseth in May 1948. They raised five children and worked together in their State Farm office for nearly 30 years. They retired first to their lake home on Blanche Lake near Battle Lake, Minn., moving to Baxter, Minn., in 2000. Howard passed away in November 2006.
Elaine was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. Her home was the central gathering place for family and friends from far and wide, as there was always plenty of room, laughter and delicious home cooking for all. Blessed be the memory of Elaine Gravseth. We rejoice in her life and all the warm memories of her loving spirit.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Sandy (Curt) Nielsen, Brainerd, Steve (Ann) Gravseth, Dallas, Scott (Val) Gravseth, East Grand Forks, Jan (Bill) Ankele, Centennial, Colo., Paul (Catherine) Gravseth, of Grand Forks; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave (Ann) Erickson, Park Rapids; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Visitation will begin an hour before services at the church.
A prayer service also will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. Burial will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Good Samaritan Hospice or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
