You know how the turtle came through at the end of the race with the rabbit?
It is our hope that this will happen with our mentor drive. We are just short of the 100 mentors that we need to meet our goal by Dec.10. At this point we need to mention that quite a few men stepped up to the plate and became mentors for boys in need. What great characters!
We still have a girl on our list that we are trying to find a suitable partner for. She was introduced to us last year. At that point Shelly was 13 years old, almost 14. Needless to say that we would like to find a person in her life that has an open ear and heart for a teenager's ups and downs. Shelly has a younger brother and a younger sister. She is really ready for a kinship partner, preferably a young lady in her twenties according to her wish list. She would like someone to talk to, other than her mom. She doesn't know her biological father.
Shelly describes herself as quiet and shy, easy going, likes fun things, likes to hang out and listen to music. She loves shopping, watching movies, horseback riding, four-wheeling and camping as well as snowmobiling.
When asked about her dislikes, she mentions that she hates lies and that she is afraid of clowns.
Shelly would like a partner "that isn't trying to be bossy." Maybe a young lady or a couple could make a lasting impact on this girl's life.
