FERGUS FALLS -- The Central Lakes College men's basketball team can always fall back on its defense.
The Raiders did just that as they used a suffocating, full-court, pressure defense to down the Fergus Falls Spartans 72-67 Tuesday. Fergus Falls was unbeaten and ranked fifth in the nation in Division III.
CLC beat the Spartans on their home court without the services of its top player Leonard Langdon, who was dismissed from the team.
The two remaining sophomores, Louis Roseman and Eli McVey picked up the slack. Roseman scored a team-high 16 points and McVey added 10. Adam Angell scored 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and Chris Beckley chipped in 10 points.
"We just out scrapped Fergus," CLC coach Jim Russell said. "Not many teams come in to Fergus and beat them at home. We played aggressive defense and picked them up full court. They didn't have any easy baskets. Fergus is a well coached team and they weren't used to that kind of pressure."
