James "Jimmy" R. Shaffer, 67, a longtime resident of Brainerd, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born in Elkhart, Iowa, on Dec. 4, 1936, and is survived by his wife, Barbara (Nuttbrock) of 22 years; his mother, Julia Shaffer, of Merrifield; a brother, Dean (Louise) Shaffer, of Crosby; and four sisters, Jeannette (John) Jones, of Brainerd, Kathy (Keith) Beckheyer, of Baxter, Margie (Roger) Blomberg, of Nisswa, and Joan (Rick) Stillwell, of Princeton; eight nephews; two nieces; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, James.
Jimmy served as an elder in the Brainerd congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He will be remembered for his warmth, kindness and mild disposition. Family and friends will long cherish the music that he and his brother, Dean, loved that drew his family and friends so close together. He will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brainerd. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
