80 years ago (1924) - Due to the Radio Digest which published a misinformed article on the lack of churches, ministers, church music, etc., in Brainerd, this city has gained a lot of poor advertising. Stories from St. Paul, Minneapolis, Duluth, Little Falls and Bemidji papers strove to correct the injustice done to Brainerd.

Bank robbery suspect still at large
Authorities continued their search for the suspect in Friday's robbery of a Backus bank but have made no arrests, the Cass County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday.

The school days at Washington Middle School in Brainerd may be coming to an end soon, but the emotional ties that have been formed at the 75-year-old school building won't fade away when the building closes as a school Dec. 17.

Ken was born on Jan. 3, 1937, in Malden, Mass. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. On April 3, 1976, he was married to Connie Wiederich. They spent many years together on the East Coast before moving their family to the Bertha area in 1990.
