Elsie 'Karen' Kivi

Elsie "Karen" Kivi, 83, Brainerd, formerly of Crosby, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Hibbing to Toivo and Sophia (Talvio) Kivi. She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1936, received a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Minnesota in 1941 and a master's degree in library science from the University of Illinois in 1951. She was a retired professor of library science at Moorhead State University. She was a member of Beta Phi Mu, charter member of American Printing Historical Association, American Library Association, American Association of University Professors, National Education Association, American Association of University Women and the Cuyuna Range Historical Society.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.

Friends may call one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
