Edward T. O'Brien

OWATONNA -- Edward Thomas O'Brien, 67, Owatonna, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at his home.

He was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Pillager to Thomas and Hazel (Lamb) O'Brien. He married Lenore McDowell on Feb. 11, 1956, in Hibbing. They lived in the Hibbing area where he was employed by the Jones and Laughlin Mining Co. They moved to Owatonna in 1969. In Owatonna, he operated both the Owatonna Independent service station and then Eddie's Apco for seven years. He then operated Eddie's Towing and Welding in Pratt, and did contract welding for Owatonna Manufacturing Co. He contracted with the state for roadside mowing. He drove a school bus and delivered papers for the Owatonna People's Press. He then worked for Budget Oil Co. for three years, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Edward O'Brien Jr., Lakeville, and Ralph O'Brien and Calvin O'Brien, both of Owatonna; a daughter, Sara Zimmer, Owatonna; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Leo O'Brien, Warba, Michael O'Brien, Brainerd, and Bill O'Brien, Bovey; and a sister, Loretta Humphrey, Deerwood.

Five sisters and a brother died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with the Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and an hour before services Sunday at the funeral home.
