American Legion events

The American Legion Post E-board and Auxiliary meetings will be 7 p.m. Monday at the American Legion in Brainerd.

The Marine Corps League meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Brainerd Lakes Veterans Center meeting will be 5 p.m. at the Brainerd American Legion.

A meatloaf dinner by Bentson will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday at the Legion.

The children's Christmas party will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd American Legion.

Christmas and customer appreciation party

BACKUS - The Backus American Legion's annual Christmas and Customer Appreciation Party will be held at 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Complimentary food, free door prizes and a raffle featuring 30 Christmas hams will highlight the event. The clubrooms are located at highways 371 and 87 West.

Good Samaritan bake sale

The Good Samaritan Society-Bethany Auxiliary, will host a bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. Friday in the Community Room. Treats include: Lefse, almond cake, krumkake, breads, cookies, bars, fudge, candy, and crafts. Proceeds will go to benefit the Care Center Christmas festivities!

PEO CJ

Chapter CJ of PEO will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hostesses will be Jo Moores and Bev Dinham. The program will be by Jan Erickson.

Ray's Promenaders

Ray's Promenaders square dance club will be dancing Friday at the Franklin Art Center Cafeteria with caller Roger Lueth. Plus dancing starts at 7:30 p.m. with mainstream from 8-10 p.m. Hosts will be the Halls.

Service of Reconciliation planned

There will be a Service of Reconciliation and Installation at 1 p.m. Monday in the Cedar Leaf Chapel at G.S.S. - Bethany, 804 Wright Street, Brainerd. Please help us reconcile with Craig Ammermann as we bless his departure and welcome and install Mike Deuth as our new administrator. Refreshments will be served.

Sons of Norway - Tusenvann Lodge, Isle

The Sons of Norway - Tusenvann Lodge No. 1-659 will host a program at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the I.R.E.C. in Isle. The program will be a Christmas carol sing-along. Potluck and refreshments will be served. Cash donation collection will be taken for area food shelves. Retired employees to meet

The Brainerd Sub-Chapter of the Minnesota Retired State Employees Association (MRSEA) will meet at noon on Thursday at Bonanza in Baxter. Social hour will be followed with lunch at 12:30. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Please bring Christmas stories/ jokes to share and an item to be donated to the Food Shelf. Class of 55

The WHS Class of '55, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Friday at the Red Roof Inn.

Mission Possible Seniors

The Mission Possible Senior Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at noon Wednesday at Antlers in Breezy Point. This will be the Christmas Party. All area seniors are welcome. Potlatch Retirees

The Potlatch Retirees will meet Dec. 2 for cards and lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Lakes Area Sr. Activity Center.

Lions Club spaghetti dinner

The Brainerd Lions Club will host a spaghetti dinner from 5:15 - 7 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church on Norwood Street. Cost is $6.50 per person. Tickets are available from Lions members and at the door.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be held from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by Jerry B; 1 - 4 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by Country Pride and 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Pine River Legion with music by Frankly Country.

Pine River Arts and Crafts Fair

PINE RIVER - The 21st Annual Arts and Crafts Fair will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday at the Pine River American Legion. Homemade arts and crafts will be on display and for sale including knitting, crocheting, serving items, quilts, purses, bags, jewelry, woodworking and other items. Home baked goodies such as rosettes, jellies and home-made candy will also be for sale. Lunch will be served at noon.

Widowed Friends

The Widowed Friends will meet for the Christmas Dinner and a party at noon on Monday at the Sawmill Inn. For more information call 829-3084 or 829-2682.

Brainerd Auxiliary to meet

The Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children will meet at noon Monday at the Masonic Hall for their Christmas Party. A potluck lunch will be served. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share and an item for the patients ditty bags (personal items such as combs, toothpaste, lotion or a small toy). Members wishing to participate are also asked to bring a white elephant item for the silent auction.

PEO to meet

Chapter DV PEO will have a social meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Lodge at Kay Carlson's complex. The Social Committee will serve dinner followed by the basket sale. Remember to bring an unwrapped gift for PORT.

We Care reunion

The We Care annual reunion Christmas Party will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. A $10 - $12 gift exchange will be held. For reservations, call Linda at 829-1243 or Bill (320) 277-3476.

Class of '41

The WHS Class of 1941 will meet at TJ's Log Cabin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday for lunch.

VFW dinner

A Holiday Scandinavian dinner will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday or until gone at the VFW in Brainerd. Cost is $8. Reservations are appreciated by calling 829-6393.
