A site plan and report on the county's sanitary landfill were presented to the Crow Wing County Board of Commissioners by John Rankin, Engineer and Dennis Gustafson, Planning and Zoning Officer.
40 years ago (1962)
The city's official Christmas tree near the Northern Pacific Depot, was donated to the city by Paul Dybrik, 1420 Oak. The tree was estimated the height of 50 feet and was 48 years old.
60 years ago (1942)
Private Lasslo Szenes, Camp Ripley, a native of Budapest, Hungary, student of economics and son of the president of the Teacher's College in Budapest, will be the principal speaker at the Brainerd Lions Club dinner meeting at the Ransford Hotel.
80 years ago (1922)
The total roll of men now employed in the Brainerd shops numbers 664. The highest roll in the old days was 1,170. Following usual winter layoffs, the roll averaged down to about 900 men.
