University of Minnesota Raptor Center to visit Staples

STAPLES - Students in grades 3-6 are invited to the Staples Elementary School Gym from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 for a presentation by the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. Raptors are birds that kill with their feet or talons. The Raptor Center will bring raptors, including an owl, hawk, falcon and bald eagle to this educational and entertaining presentation. Parents and grandparents are welcome. This presentation is coordinated and sponsored by the Staples Public Library.

Nisswa kids collect 114 pairs of glasses on Halloween

NISSWA - Students from the Nisswa Elementary School teamed up with the Nisswa Lions Club for Halloween. When visiting homes for trick-or-treats these children collected 114 pairs of old eye glasses.

The Nisswa Lions will send the glasses to a recycling center where they will be cleaned, fixed and then sent to needy folks in poor countries around the world. If the children missed a home, drop them off at Martins Sport Shop in Nisswa.
