CROSBY - Merrill Joseph Provost, age 92, of Crosby, died on Nov. 26, 2007, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on Jan. 29, 1915, in Trout Creek Township, Mich., to Joseph and Florence (Loomis) Provost. He married Monica J. Kenyon on June 9, 1949, in Crosby. He graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School Class of 1933. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a retired metallurgist in the iron ore mining industry all of his working life, working with Zontelli Brothers, Pittsburgh Pacific, Lurch Brothers and Kaiser Steel. After retirement Merrill and Monica wintered in Indio, Calif., and summered at their home in Crosby. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Crosby. He is survived by his wife, Monica; two sons, Joseph M. (Rebecca) Provost, of Indio, Calif., David J. Provost, of Indio, Calif.; a daughter, Colleen (Mark) Tauzell, of Deerwood; six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Joseph B. Provost. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
