Glen Schmidt, Little Falls, is a staff member in the Academic Technology Center at Bemidji State University. He is a junior majoring in mass communications. The ACT is a resource center for a variety of technological services and solutions. The staff provides equipment setup, inkjet printing, presentation help, satellite downlink and video production to BSU faculty and staff.

Open Forum
Unfortunately allowing Amtrak to die an honorable death (Open Forum Nov. 23) just because it loses money is not the answer to all of our problems. Our nation's highway system and air system also are not "profitable" if measured solely by the direct revenue received vs. money spent, as the writer suggests for Amtrak.
