Clyle M. Benton, 76, Brainerd, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Brainerd to Donald and Pearl (McCarty) Benton. He served in the Army during World War II in the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge, Bronze Arrowhead, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He worked in the tie plant for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1980. He also worked as a Realtor and played with the Don Merritt Orchestra.
Survivors include a brother, Donald Benton, Brainerd.
A brother, Luverne Benton, and a sister, Shirley Anderson, died earlier.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Burial will be 2:45 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd with military honors provided by Brainerd VFW Post No. 1647.
